STRIKE SANCTION VOTE

   POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

AT THE PEMBINA COMMUNITY CENTER

APRIL 21, 2020

POLL OPEN:  5:30 AM UNTIL 6:00 PM

What is a strike sanction?  It is a procedural vote required by the IAM Constitution, it is a vote taken before we even sit down at the table with the company.  The vote is in no way an indication of a strike.  It is instead carried out for the purpose of doing two things:

  1. A SHOW OF SOLIDARITY. It demonstrates that the members of the bargaining unit are behind their Negotiating Committee.   It gives us power at the negotiating table.
  2. PROVIDE LEGAL NOTICE TO THE IAM GRAND LODGE. The initial vote provides advance notice to the Grand Lodge so that members will receive strike benefits  without any undue delay IF they vote to strike after voting on the contract offer.

Without strike sanctioning, we cannot strike later, and will have no leverage in negotiations.  It is very important that you participate in this vote.  Without the support of our members we cannot enforce our demands at the table.

We hope to have 100% strike sanction vote!
